German
Leitzelar If the employees were illegally fired, the Ministry of Labor will work to negociate and bring about reconciliation between the two parties. We cannot, in any way, obligate the company to pay these employees their compensation. Lorena Elizabeth
Valle What they wanted
was to take the life out of us. All we are asking them for is that they
pay us what is rightfully ours, which for them is nothing. We do not know why they fired us. We only want that they pay us what they owe us. Héctor
Borjas This is unbelievable. It's a scandel that only Burger King, an international company, would have the power to do, to go against its workers like that. This should not be allowed to continue. The worst of it is that German Leitzelar, the Minister of Labor, is also currently representing the company, INTUR. Alfredo Saavedra I believe that this is extortion and blackmail and I don´t know why they are doing this. They (the employees) have called me a million times, pressuring me to pay, saying that if the company does not pay they will take the case to an international level. Adelina Casco Its unjust. I always tried to do everything I could at work, in order that they would not find reason to fire me and yet they still did. I was a good worker. Faustina
Ordóñez They should have compassion for the poor and pay my daughter what they owe her. Silvia Morales What INTUR has done is inhumane. The majority of these people have very little in terms of economic resources. Right now, they have nothing to eat nor any way to get around. Eufemia Cruz What I want are my rights, those that are required by law, nothing more. They have committed an injustice. They may have the right to fire us, because each company has the right to decide upon who they want working for them, however, they must also recognize the rights of those employees. Carlos Reyes In Honduras we have labor laws for our workers, but very few mechanisms in place to make sure these laws are put into effect. Karla Maribel
Padilla This is a tremendous injustice. The majority of us are single mothers and we need this money to provide for our kids. Juan Barahona This is a very concrete case that makes clear the power that these transnational companies have in here in Honduras. The State and large Honduran companies do not respect the laws that have been established, and the transnationals completely disregard what is going on. Laureano
Carbajal It would be worth it to know exactly how the State recognizes these cases or what type of contract they have with these international franchises, such as fast-food chains, and see how workers rights are really viewed and dealt with by these companies. Maritza Beriloz Local businesses cannot compete with the low prices of fast-food chains. What they sell is junk food, and here the people do not look at what they are eating. It would be better that they ate beans and tortillas or eggs than the food that those fast-food chains sell. |
