Mission
REVISTAZO.COM
is a virtual magazine dedicated to carrying out investigative journalism
on topics that help to promote a more just and transparent society in
Honduras.
We make use
of digital technology to break through the limitations imposed by the
traditional media, where there is no space, time or desire to expound
the whole truth about matters that are of vital importance to our nation.
We are an open space for civil participation. We publish what others maliciously
censure. If someone can substantiate and document their statements, we
offer a place for them to publish it. Our journalism team is professional,
ethical, and above all, focused on achieving structural changes that would
permit all Hondurans to live with more dignity.
We strive to go beyond traditional publications. We are critical, but
try to propose solutions as well. We are continually looking for fresh
ideas that offer viable solutions for solving the complex problems that
our nation faces.
Since our first edition in December of 2001, we have investigated topics
of great national interest from a unique perspective: the new Supreme
Court of Justice, the election of the new Human Rights Commissioner, and
the first Hundred Days of the new government. As you can see by entering
these past editions, our reporting and surveys offer depth to current
debates and have influenced some of the decisions made at those moments.
Throughout this time, we have registered thousands of hits, something
very relevant in this virtual media, if we take into consideration that
our public-the target of each edition are the individuals and organizations
most closely related to the topics discussed and those personages in the
circles of power and decision-making in our country.
REVISTAZO and those of us who work in this alternative means of communications
identify ourselves as people committed to truth, morality and journalistic
professionalism. But above all we declare ourselves to be harbingers of
a more just society for the poorest and most vulnerable sectors of our
country. Everything we do, whether on a macro or micro level, is to achieve,
God willing, true transformation in Honduras.
